Hey folks I'm in the process of buying a zetec s after owning a few fords years ago, I haven't decided on petrol or diesel and am wondering what people's opinions are between the two? Thanks, Nigel

They're quite different and which is best for you depends on your driving style in my opinion. You need to test drive them both.

I'd had a 1.6TDCi econetic for 4 years, I averaged 70.9mpg over 84,000 miles and I loved the relaxed driving style, rarely took it above 2000 rpm.

My mileage has reduced considerably and I replaced it in July this year. I really wanted to swap to petrol and I test drove the 100 and 125PS versions of the 1.0L ecoboost, both were quick but you had to keep the revs up, all started to happen above 2000/2500 rpm but I just didn't like the lack of low down torque. I eventually opted for the 1.5TDCi 95PS.

Cheers it's mainly for pottering around town so revs will be kept pretty low, have test driven a couple of diesels and am looking forward to checking out the petrol
