Pretty ridiculous!

This was the moment a driver swerved into the path of an articulated lorry, deliberately causing a crash in an attempt to win whiplash compensation for the four occupants.

In the clip, a Ford Galaxy swerves violently all the way across the carriageway in front of the lorry, clearly causing the crash.

However, the shocking manoeuvre was caught on a dashboard-mounted camera in the truck, which meant the whiplash claims were dismissed.

‘Crash for cash’ incidents, in which drivers deliberately cause accidents in order to make exaggerated insurance claims for vehicle damage or personal injury, are estimated to cost the UK insurance industry £392 million dollars a year, according to the Insurance Fraud Bureau.

One in seven of all personal injury claims are linked to crash for cash cases, says the Bureau, which says insurance fraud adds around £50 to the annual premiums of honest policy holders.
