Well I can confirm the 1600TDCI Fiesta is pretty good in the snow, even on "regular" tyres. Still, I will be getting some prices for winter tyres tomorrow.

Be prepared for a shock, even budget ones are getting on for £300 a set

Just deflate your tyres. For example big hill near me in ottershaw. When it snowed bad last everyone was out in the road pushing cars up as even 4x4 could not make it. I deflated my tyres a bit and had traction all the way up and no one needed to push

Not the case at all, I got Vredestein Snowtrac3 195/65 R15 (wrong size for a Fiesta but right for my Octavia) for less than £200 delivered.

That's incredible a 4x4 getting stuck in snow that a Fiesta with deflated tyres could get up... Must have been something wrong with it - or it's driver LOL

Just out of interest how does the ESP function on the Fiestas?
And - in your case the Zetc S - does it have LSD?

I've only driven Subarus and LR Disco in snow so don't really have any experience of getting 'stuck' - except when stuck behind someone else whos car is completely wrong for the conditions

Like when we got stuck behind 3 lads with an Escort RS turbo on a country road - one steering and giving too much throttle and his 2 mates trying to push him

Comical or what... For a while... then it got boring

Lol unfortunately I haven't tested the fiesta in bad snow it was my 1.6 golf mk4 that made it up the hill on its own

Every other car needed pushing up

The 4x4 was the Porsche one. Not a true 4x4 IMO.

The traction control is good in the fiesta in the wet. It helps keep it on the road but in snow only used it in light it's ok but have to turn it of if not the wheels won't move at all. The traction control will just cut power to stop wheels spinning something like that anyway

I have those silly 195/45x16s on my Fiesta. If I deflate them, I'll be running on the rims

And as for £300 per set? I'd only change the fronts.

10 psi won't deflate them to much all you want is the weight of the car to flatten the rubber a tiny bit more to get more grip and surface area.

Not good for long drives as it will wear the tyre more if you drive it out of snowy areas
