Fiesta ZS petrol turbo

Post by patterson »

Please correct me if I am wrong... I think I could be but the fiesta ZS tdci is a 1.6 diesel turbo so logically speaking the cylinders are the same size as the petrol so I am thinking if I took all the turbo parts of the diesel they would bolt on to the petrol without hassle... Or am i being a complete mong

Diesel internals (crank, rods, etc) are much stronger than the petrol ones to cope with the higher compression needed for them to run (1.6 petrol is 11:1, 1.6 diesel is 18:1) you'd need to upgrade the petrol bits or it'd most likely eat the bearings or worst case snap the crank or strip the head bolt threads, either way it'd be messy & pretty expensive ;0)

Yeah I know the petrol can't take the power, but I am right in thinking it will just fit into place an with some money being spent on stronger robust internals. The car will be a monster

Wouldn't you be better off getting some sort of aftermarket turbo, the diesel one wouldn't bring too much difference I'd have thought being a standard ford one.
