CD PLAYER REPLACEMENT

Hi all,
Looking for some help the cd player gave up on my 2011 style which has a single plug in connection, so purchased a replacement thinking they were all the same, but this one came with a double plug connection. When the only plug is inserted nothing happens, is there a modification available & what is the extra connection for?
