Wheel stud covers

I took my car to get some new tyres yesterday and on one wheel the chrome covers on the studs have come off which, to be honest, looks awful!
The guy who was changing the tyres said it was a common problem as they are just chrome caps to make the studs look 'pretty'
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone knows what to do short of buying a new set (seems pointless since the studs themselves are fine, they just look crap!)
