Right ladies...im a little confused and wondered if anyone could clear things up....

Daytime running lights in the fiesta can be done, you can buy them as accessories etc...the new UK model 'Centura' has them as standard as well...

apparently, EU law states from Feb 2011 all cars vans etc have to be fitted with Daytime running lights? if this is the case, why dont i have them? mines April 2011...my brothers car which we pick up in march doesn't have them either? then i thought...well maybe its models after feb 2011 and not just cars produced (fiesta is a 2008 model)...but why does the new focus only have day time running lights on the titanium X model?

i may be wrong...or it may mean that the UK is saying up yours to the EU...which is good in my books!!

Anyways, if you know more than me let me know!

Thanks people :)

I figured its just cars being designed after Feb 2011? Not compulsory to add it to current designs

nah hids are different, theyre upgrades to normal lights, like xenons etc, daytime running lights are on 24/7, as soon as your ignition starts, thyre 99% of the time LEDs as well, Audis are the best looking and have them in there light surrounds where as other cars have them positioned slightly differently.

I would guess that as the mk7 design was created before feb2011 they don't need to have them. Just an assumption

Bit of research i found this...
In 2008 a new law was passed by the European Commission that meant all new cars and small vans purchased after February 2011 had to have daytime running lights, and lorries will follow suit from August 2012. The new vehicles will have the daytime running lights (DRL) that come on automatically when the engine is started. This law will not affect cars bought before this period and DRLĀ“s will not have to be retro fitted.

But yer i am confused because i'v seen cars sold after feb 11 and they haven't been sold with drl?
