First Fiesta

Post by Kakashi »

Nice to meet you all!

I'm a proud new owner of an Mk7 Fiesta 1.6 Titainum! Liking the car so far, it's much nicer to drive than my old Yaris and I'm a gadget man so I'm loving the Titanium gizmos!
One thing I have noticed is that for a Petrol car, it does sound almost diesel like when idle? (Well not that bad but not as quiet as I thought it'll be) I would like to know if anyone else thinks their 1.6 Petrol sounds a little noisy?

Thanks!

Hi Kakashi, glad you like the mk7 fiesta! Great little car! I have the Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S petrol and I know where you come from about almost sounding like a diesel engine and being noisy. Basically what I think is, it may have something to do with the exhaust system so that it sounds more sporty? Does your car make like a 'grumble noise' like on Subaru's etc especially when letting your foot of the gas pedal in first gear?

At first I wasn't sure about the engine noise especially in idle but after a while I've grown more to appreciate it and to listen to it more carefully. Now I love it more and more. Very subtle but sporty sounding enough (not like a unpleasant, over-loud noise but not too quiet?) :D

Hi Suwage23, Mine sounds like it's coming from the engine and more "broken" than sporty... :( but I'm not getting any lights on the dash and when I'm driving it, I don't hear the "diesel" like noise but a nice smooth rev from the engine so I'm confused. I've decided to book it into Ford next week while it's still under warrenty (better safe than sorry). I'm hoping it's just me but my luck isn't that good because when I got out of my car today, the drivers side power foldng mirror started clicking, when I locked my car... Apparently a common problem from what I've seen on these forums... -_-
