HID Conversion Kit

Post by samjprobinson »

I have for sale a used HID conversion kit for the Fiesta with the projector style headlights. I am selling them as "Not Road Legal" as I have heard they are not legal for the yearly test unlike over here in Guernsey where they are legal. The pack contains 2 8000k HID H7 bulbs, 2 ballasts and all the wiring etc to connect them. It took me 15 minutes to change over from standard halogen bulbs to these HIDs but they are quite a blue colour. I have purchased a replacement set as I prefer the 6000k colour.

They cost me £79.99 new 6 months ago, have sat in a box for the last 5 months and I'm looking for around £40 OIRO plus postage to the UK (unless you happen to live in Guernsey then I'll drop them off and fit them for free!)

Pictures to follow when I have worked out how to upload a picture; feel free to contact me via the forum or my email; samjprobinson@suremail.gg

Cheers, Sam

Added: Just for reference, if you have a Fiesta with Automatic Headlights, you won't be able to use the automatic function any more with an HID conversion. Due to the headlights coming on in the dark when you turn the ignition on, the loss of voltage to the bulbs and ballast when you actually start the engine results in the bulbs tripping out, flickering, blowing fuses or throwing strange errors up on the dashboard. If you continually do this you massively shorten the bulbs life as well, along with destroying the internals of the ballast module!

Hi, managed to find a couple of pictures from when I had these 8000k bulbs fitted. The ballast and the igniter are both built into the same silver case in the photos. I've managed to attach both units in a sensible place within the bonnet as there is plently of cable that comes with them. Postage to the UK is £8.50 recorded and insured etc etc. Any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me!

hiya - no worries, thanks for that :)

looking around the internet, i can get a new set with slim ballasts (i was looking for these ideally, so i can hide the ballast in the headlight itself) for around £60......so think ill pass this time

thanks anyway though :)

I wouldn't put them inside the actual headlight, they get very hot!

No I wouldn't put them inside the headlight unit either, the ballast does get hot, sometimes almost to hot to hold if the headlights have been on for a long time. I created a little mount for them on top of the suspension sections as the cables are still long enough to reach the headlight unit. I also cut a small hole in the rubber cover so the wires could feed through, rather than leaving the cover off or cramming everything inside the headlight unit. They're still for sale, so make me an offer!

I did the same but positioned them under the headlight somewhere.
