Boot Light Temperamental...?

Got my 59 plate Zetec S on the 13th and so far am loving it...

Never noticed I had a boot light until about the 21st. But now when I open my boot at night. It doesn't work. I can't remember it working before hand and I've only ever seen it once... Is this hard to fix?

Side note:
My rear passenger brake light blew on the 15th... But I didn't take it back to the dealer, instead used it as an opportunity to figure out how to replace it myself..

Could it be related? Should I take it back and get them to take a look? - Dealer is like 30/40 miles away...
