1.6tdci Zetec S coolant and engine noise

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem?


The first is a strange noise coming from the engine. When on idle and revving down after accelerating in neutral what can only be described as a whirring noise occurs. I've had a look around and the noise seems to be coming from the area of the engine where the timing belt is located. I could be paranoid but the fact it happens sometimes and then not at other times is what has me worried. It could be a simple case of replacing the timing belt? Its a 1.6 zetec s tdci 2009.

I took a video and I'll try upload it asap!

Also, I had a look in the coolant reservoir and it appears to be bubbling a lot at the top. Is this normal?

Mine did this
Mine was the alternator belt tensioner was dry I sprayed it in wd40 carefully no to get some on the belt itself then it went!

did the WD 40 work?

yeah the belt tensioner seems to have an awful lot of movement also!

Movement?? It will move it acts as a tensioner/damper
Yeah worked there's a rubber bush inbetween the moving parts that was the squeaking noise on my the rubber must of dried out

Mine did this, was the water pump which I got replaced under warranty.
