Fan turning on and not turning off !!!

Fan turning on and not turning off !!!
I started my car up this morning and as soon as I turned my ignition on, the fan kicked in. I drove it too work and it was still on. Ive took the fuse out and its stopped but ive never had this happen before, any ideas ? thanks

Ive just put the fuse back in and started the car and its not turned on but very weird :S

no, the aircon was turned off, I did turn it back on and off to see if that cured it but nothing. Since ive put the fuse back in, its not come on so that's good

This has happened again, but I disconnected the battery for over half an hour and took the number 2 fuse out which is causing the high speed fan to stay on and I connected it all back up and its still coming on, really concerned now
I've had to leave the fuse out as its staying on without the key in the ignition...help !!!!

Could be a faulty resistor, think it's located behind the console trim in the passenger foot well
