Hey guys,
I own a 62 plate Fiesta that I love, it's a Panther Black Zetec and has been perfect up until recently.
I picked up a friend early on friday morning and left my car outside of my house until saturday morning when I came to drive it again.
It appeared that the steering wheel was not locked like it usually was and was hanging rather loosely, when I turned her on and went to drive, the steering wheel was indeed loose and it didn't have the artificial "heavy handling" that I had grown to love, when steering the wheel it also makes a very slight creaking noise that I can only describe as a rubber ball being dragged across a surface, it is intermittant.
I thought that if I turned off the engine and the steering wheel locked then when I start the engine again it would be back to normal, I turned it off, the steering wheel locked and felt heavy again, but when I turned the engine back on the wheel was once again, very very easy to push, I can get around half a steer without meeting any resistance.
This is somewhat alarming as the steering is very light and feels really really dangerous at the minute, I am still under warranty so I am going to get it looked at tomorrow but I just wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar? Knows if it is a relatively easy fix, or maybe even knows what is wrong with it?
Thanks very much!!!

Re: Fiesta 62 Plate Steering Wheel Feels VERY Loose!
Check subframe mounting bolts heads, because ours were corroded from wthin and fell off leaving the vehicle to be taken to garage because it was too dangerous to drive. Only 18k on the clock and out of warranty and Ford do not care even though there is a recall for a similar fault on bolts for Fusion rear suspension bolt heads. Hope this helps.
