Pot holes beware...

Post by Jamesk07 »

Hi chaps,

Well, 3 weeks ago I hit what can only be described as a "bloody" big pot hole at about 30mph. Since then I noticed that the car appeared to pull to the left slightly. Went on a short motorway run 2 days ago and it just felt wrong, not as sure footed as I have come to expect from my otherwise excellent little car. So, yesterday she went into my local Ford dealership for the tracking to be adjusted (about £35 which I thought reasonable). I got a call at lunch to tell me that... The pot hole has buckled your front passenger side rim and completely screwed your tracking which, as a result, has scrubbed the inside edges of both front tyres down to zero...

Long story short, I've had to order a new alloy (they're not Ford alloys), 2 new tyres and have that all balanced, fitted then finally tracked... All to the tune of about £300-350 (I'll find out the exacts later today). Lesson here is act quicker I guess, but still bloody annoying given the problem has been caused, once again, by the shocking state of the roads here in Kent...

I reported the pot hole and took photos at the time. I've logged my complaint and Kent County Council are sending me an insurance claim form. I am going to make this my personal mission to get my money back. I'll let you know how it goes...

James

I imagine it will be a long process with the council but if you keep on at them, you will get there!
