Sounds fine! The speakers in my car are great and the sub just gives it that extra kick it needs :-)

thats good to hear :D i have a zetec s with only front speakers. there is no rear speakers but the wiring is all there. where could i run my RCA converter off? front or rears? also if i run it off the fronts will they be amplified when the ignitions on or will they be the same?

The rear speaker outputs off the std headunit need to be activated by your ford dealer so unless you do this you'll need to use your front speaker outputs for your input to the amplifier. The wires only output when there is volume, so only work when the stereo is on.
Some amplifiers have a high input connection designed for speaker inputs and also RCA (phono) inputs for aftermarket stereos, whatever you do , dont connect both. If your amplifier only has RCAs get yourself a high level convertor. Once its all working, turn the stereo up to 3/4 volume without the front speakers distorting and turn the gain up on the amp until the sub plays to its maximum volume without distortion. Dont forget to put a fuse next to the battery for your power cable and make sure your earth connection is excellent ( make sure its good clean metal). The amp remote wire will need to come from an ignition wire as the standard stereo doesnt have a switched output.

Hope that helps.

Cheers, Rob.

I've got an Edge, it's the stereo model that hasn't got any phone options (no 'phone' button on the head unit), does anyone know if it has phono output plugs on the back so I can plug a phono to phono lead straight from there to my amp? If not, how will do I go about connecting the unit to the audion input on my amp?

Thanks in advance!

hey guys.i just installed my subwoofer and amp to the factory head unit, original speakers still in the doors and i have tweeters connected to a 4 channel amplifier and 2 channels bridged to a 12" pioneer DVC subwoofer. it sounds awesome. the only problem i had was trying to route the power cable from the battery to the rear.

will post some pics soon.
