Have I Made A Costley mistake ????

Hi there people of Fiesta mk7 land
I think I made a bit of a snappy decision and bought a part for my car that won't work. A mate of mines brother had a few parts he bought for his Fiesta mk7, he traded it in for a rather lovely Mini Cooper S in Hyper blue. So he had a few odds and ends laying around and asked me if I wanted to buy any of it. I spied one of those digital heater control panels with the silver surround pounced in for the kill.
After a bit of back and forth on the price we agreed on £30, pretty darn good because I have seen them on EBay for more than double that. However when I got home and thought about it, I can't see how I could possibly work on my Mk7 Zetec. I mean there's no physical way to change where the heat comes from. In mine it's a big huge dial, in the new one it's push button.
Am I wrong or have I just blown £30 on a shiny piece on plastic that I'll never be able too use ?
