Have I Made A Costley mistake ????

Hi there people of Fiesta mk7 land

I think I made a bit of a snappy decision and bought a part for my car that won't work. A mate of mines brother had a few parts he bought for his Fiesta mk7, he traded it in for a rather lovely Mini Cooper S in Hyper blue. So he had a few odds and ends laying around and asked me if I wanted to buy any of it. I spied one of those digital heater control panels with the silver surround pounced in for the kill.

After a bit of back and forth on the price we agreed on £30, pretty darn good because I have seen them on EBay for more than double that. However when I got home and thought about it, I can't see how I could possibly work on my Mk7 Zetec. I mean there's no physical way to change where the heat comes from. In mine it's a big huge dial, in the new one it's push button.

Am I wrong or have I just blown £30 on a shiny piece on plastic that I'll never be able too use ?

Oh dear I thought as much, well I suppose it could have been worse. At least I never payed a fortune for it, just chalk it up to a learning experience I guess.

Stick it on ebay if you've seen them sell for more and make your money back. Not so much of a mistake then.

Should be able to make something back on it at least! As you said, at least double that on ebay!

I had mine replaced under warranty recently. The invoice said something like £236 new from Ford! :o

Wow £236, that's a lot of money just for me to have a new wee gadget to mess around with. I think on reflection I'll pass on that one lol. Doesn't seem worth all the hassle and cost just to get a digital reed out of the temperature. Although I have to admit it does look very cool and ultra modern.

On the EBay side of things, I have a shed full of parts for my Mk4 in there, some very rare pieces. Plus when I fit the new stereo I bought that means I'll have a spare one of those too. It's just the whole pain in the rear end about selling on eBay. The P & P, having to box everything g up. It's just easier to stick 'em in a shed and forget about them lol

Plus my local Ford dealership isn't the most reliable or trustworthy place to get things done. I'm still waiting on a front pair of Climair to come in that I ordered 10 days ago. They were supposed to come in on Wednesday, still no call from them. Would have liked an update at least
