Fiesta zetec mk7

Hi I have a fiesta zetec 59 plate and wanted to know weather the engine in run by a chain or belt and when it should be changed thanks.

Depends what type of engine it is, the 1.6 tdci has a belt driven inlet camshaft but the exhaust cam is driven by chain from the inlet, think the service interval is around 100,000 miles or 10 years

No problem mate, the petrol engine has a timing belt, haynes recommended changing it at 62500 miles but if you do a lot of short, stop/start journeys or spend a lot of time at idle i'd probably go no more than 50000, a few hundred quid for the belt change is far cheaper than a new engine
