Ford Badges/DMB Gel overlays

Hope someone can help. I was looking to get the DMB gel overlays but on closer inspection I noticed that the outside on my existing badges the chrome parts are discoloured and look tacky. Can someone confirm that the overlays just cover the middle part of the badges and not the outside? If not can any one suggest any idea to make it look better. Can you take off the original badges and stick these in place with superglue? I just don't want it to look cheap with new badges but the outside of original badge showing and that being all marked.
Thanks

Hi i have tried metal polish but unfortunately it didn't work. What do you think about me removing the badges and getting dmb badges and sticking them in place of the original ford ones. Or spraying the chrome outer of the badge and getting the dmb badges and sticking them over the original badge?

See Im unsure if I should take original badges off and stick the dmb badges onto the grill plastic. My badges look bad around the chrome edge and would look bad if I just stick the overlays on top the original badge. I grudge paying for new badges that will get overlays stuck over them. Someone I know suggested getting plasti dip and masking everything apart from the chrome outer. I need advice want it to look good. See I would go down the route of removing the badges and sticking the dmb ones onto the grill but the ford badges are not flat and am I right on saying the overlays are flat?
