Removing brake caliper

This sounds like a real beginner's question, but I'm really struggling with changing the pads on my Fiesta.
As per the guide in the Haynes manual, I've removed the wheel, removed the brake hose clip, undid the two bolts securing the caliper to the mount, and tried to slide off the caliper itself... and it's here where I become unstuck.
The caliper's definitely loose, and I can start to slide it off easily by one or two centimetres, but it the gets stuck on something. I'm pretty sure it's not the pads, as they're already quite loose, it's as if there's something metal stopping the caliper from sliding completely off.... there's a definite 'stop'.
Any ideas?
