Sub and Amp Wiring

Post by welzy93 »

I have a sub and an amp that i am wanting to put into my mk7 fiesta with a standard head unit.

Could someone tell me the best way to wire them up the way that Ive been told is an adapter that replaces the rear speakers
but someone else has told me you can buy wiring kits for a standard head unit.

Any advice would be appreciated.

ive spliced mine into the wiring for rear speakers behind the HU with a hi - lo RCA converter (eBay or auto leads do basic ones)
Apparently it affects the quality a bit but at least that way you still have fronts, rears and a sub.
Haven't tested yet as i needed a new fuse. ill let you know tonight :)

I'm putting in a pair of line-level converters to my amp but my Fiesta is a very early 2010 and has the 14-pin grey plug. Is yours the later 2010 with the different plug?

I'm not sure how similar the colours are on the speaker wires, but the existing how-to doesn't go into colour detail and just says to splice into the 8 wires on the left hand side of the plug for a sub (two channel)
amp. As I'm using all four channels, I wondered if you knew which wires were front left/right rear left/right?

I've got some Focals with component tweeter pods for the front and PS165 with directional tweeters for the rear and a Focal amp. I'm keeping the stock HU as it seems to work very well with my iPhone 5s.

Cheers
