TreColl's Mk7 Derv Titanium

Post by trecoll »

Well, thought I should put some form of write up on here!

I used to have a Mk4 fiesta, with a 1.7l Puma conversion. I used it for track days and stuff. But in October (2011) I had a change of personal circumstances which wound up with me doing nearly 20k a year, so I had no choice but to sell up and get a diesel.
So I bought this, a 2008 "58" Fiesta Titanium - nearly fully loaded. Bought with 30K on the clock for £10k.

I was ideally looking for a Black Zetec-S, but this came up with all the gadgets, which I fell in love with :lol:

Unfortunately, a month later, my circumstances changed again and I'm back to doing "only" 14k a year! Meaning I can now afford to run a petrol again, but have hatched a new plan (More on that in a bit!)

So here's the car!

When it was originally ordered, I think almost every single optional extra box was ticked!!

It has;

- Dress up Kit (ZS Body Kit)
- Leather Pack
- A/C + E-ATC (Standard on titanium?)
- Privacy Glass
- Auto Headlights + Wipers
- Bluetooth/USB/Aux Headunit, with Voice Control
- Cruise Control (Standard on titanium)
- Keyless Entry/Start
- Powerfold mirrors
- Rear Parking Sensors

Only things I can think of that are missing are;

- Spare Wheel ( :lol: )
- 17" Zetec-S Alloys
- Heated Seats (Maybe cause of the leather?)

It doesn't have the 17" Zetec-S Alloys on it, but what it has I still think works with the kit tbh...

Since buying it, it has developed a few problems, all of which will eventually be sorted under the warranty... When I can be bothered to book it in!

I hit a pothole a week after buying it and gouged one of the tyres, so replaced the pair. (Ok, not a warranty thing, but it gets funny...)

  • Internal Temperature Sensor for E-ATC buzzing
  • Clutch pedal squeaks in first ~10mm of travel
  • Gear leaver/linkage creaks coming out of 1st, 3rd or 5th
  • I have a squeaking from the O/S/F when turning left or at slow speed (Think this maybe due to low brake disc, but I'll get them to double check it first)
  • I suspect (still need to confirm!) that I have an oil leak from the intake seal on the turbocharger (Which they are now saying will be covered by the warranty)
  • I'm getting atrocious economy now, despite my driving style/journeys not changing since I got the car... (Just filled up today and had my first tank at less than 50MPG, it was 48.8 )
The economy is getting worse and worse. Currently on 43MPG :(

The other Issue I have is, I hit another pothole ( :lol: ) and have a flat spot on one of my wheels. I'm waiting on my mate who is gonna send them off to spit and polish to be sorted out. (I'm waiting on him as he's gonna lend me his van while he has my car on axle stands for a week! :lol: )

Once that's sorted, I'll get it booked into SMC Ford and hopefully get it all sorted.

The plan now is run this until around this time next year, whilst saving as much money as I can, and hopefully buy a Fiesta ST when they come out :D

Although this isn't a project, I have made a few changes;
  • Team Heko wind deflectors
  • OSRAM Diadem indicator bulbs front and rear
  • SpiderLite Rear LED bulbs

That's about it for now, I think!

hi there - those bulbs look ace !!......do they cope ok with brake \ sidelights together ?.

i recall seeing a post to say that LED bulbs arent compatilbe as brake lights, as the originals are dual filament......

Absolutely fine.
They are designed to replace the dual filament bulbs, so have to the two contact points on the bottom and operate at different voltages for each contact (so two different brightnesses)

Nice little touches so far on an already great car.
Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the spider lights? And possibly the link to the item you bought yours from?

Paid about £30 for them. I can't get the link as I can't get on ebay at the moment. Will try and remember if I'm ever online at home!

The legs are on springs and fold in, so they go through the hole. A little bit tricky, but once you've done one, its easier!
