Change radio

In my 2009 i have the most simple radio. I just bought a 2009 radio with the bigger faceplate (nummeric and new buttons in comparison to the simple face plate). I just did not find a matrix display. I have read in Ford E-tis that coding is only needed if i change the 3 line display to a matrix display (the LIN-bus). So, could i just insert the new radio and faceplate and what would it bring me? Is it any different than the radio that is currently installed? (wattage, etc?)
