Clutch & Steering Column

Post by Nesual »

I'm hoping someone can tell me the answer to this.

Isn't there suppose to be some kind of cover between the clutch pedal and the steering column?

When I press the clutch my foot touches the steering column. When I'm trying to reverse up my drive it's a nightmare, feathering the throttle & clutch I can feel the column rotating under my toes.
& yes, I've got size 10.5 feet so I'm not the most dainty of things.

I noticed on the mk6 (6.5?) that there is a fair amount of room behind the clutch pedal fully depressed and the steering column.

ok. I've been into the dealership. Apparently there is no cover, though there are clips for it, as far as we can tell there was once a cover and they are no-longer fitted, not even listed as a part.

When I get a little time I'll see if I can put something together (knowing me massively over engineered)

That does look close, does the pedal actually touch it?
