Glove Box Light..?

Right in my glove box (Mk7) I have this, I'm sure it was in my mk6 too

To me it looks like a cut out for a glove box light, I felt behind it and there seems to be a shield (as if made so light would only shine downwards)

Anyone got any idea if its a standard ford glove box light fitment or any other info about it

I asked at the dealers if I have a switch to turn off the passenger air bag to fit a baby seat and they told me there isn't one in my Zetec. They did mention there is a blank cut out in the glove box which is where it would go, perhaps it's that?
