Timing Chain change (not belt)

Post by Xenarios »

Hi,

I'm currently in the process of getting a 10 plate MK7 Fiesta. When looking through the service history I was trying to find the last belt change, but was informed that this model uses a chain and not a belt (1.25 Zetec engine).

How often roughly should this chain be changed? I'm used to timing belts personally, so don't really know much about this. The car is only at 50k on the clock.

Mike

The timing chain is not a serviceable item on these. Normally the only reason you would change it is if was to break.

Luckily the Fiesta Diesel engines are not prone to stretching or breaking unlike other manufacturers!
