Washer pump fail, problem in electrics

Post by Handyy »

Hi,

I have a Fiesta MK7 2011, 1.25 Trend. Washer pump stopped working suddenly and I have now changed the pump itself (previous pump is also functional), I have checked that fuse in the passenger box is ok and power is coming to the connector for the pump. I have also replaced the Wiper/washer stalk switch with a new one. Nothing helps.

I did the GEM test system, which gives me chimes in all other functions, lights, blinkers, wipers ect, but the only thing that does not give the chime is the washer pump button. So is my only chance now to replace the GEM module if I want the normal button to work?

The other solution I thought of is to build a custom button for the washer. Does anyone have any advice how to do it? There's two pins going into the pump, but what controls to which tube the fluid goes, to front nozzles or the rear window nozzle? How should I connect it to make it work? I'll steal power from the passenger glove box, but I'm not sure what's the right way to connect the custom button into the pump itself.

Damn, I never thought washer pump would cause this much trouble!
