Mk 7 Tuning & Modifaction

Post by brthomas84 »

Hello all

I've owned my Mk7 now for just over a year, 1600 ZS, but am having problems sourcing mods.

I'm looking to change the dampeners and springs but cant seem to find any that stat they will fit my model, always seem to be st150 for the mk6.
Are these the same set up i.e ford used them on both models.

Same with pads and discs.

I'm a bit cheesed off that as I look for different mods to put on to her there dos'nt seem to be anything coming out.
Looked in all the mags, fast car, performance ford, fast ford, etc, but nothing.

Any feed back would be great.

Much love guys

Theres loads of stuff out there for the mk7, try these - Mountune, Burton Power, AMD, Pumaspeed, Rude Racing and theres also ebay if you want to try and grab a bargain.

Little mod i'll be trying myself soon, a mate has put 300mm discs on his zs, apparently mondeo calipers fit straight on the existing mounts (he paid £50 from a breakers plus the recon kit) to allow bigger discs, also, pumaspeed do an axle spacer kit (search 12.5mm axle spacer on ebay) for £29, give an extra inch rear track without putting extra stress on wheel bearings as the wheel spacers do, says up to mk6 but i messaged them through ebay and was told they do fit the mk7, will be fitting them next weekend :0)

I think thats what he used, mk 1 or 2 i think for the 4/108 stud pattern. Will be looking into it myself in a month or so, looking to get some fiesta mk 6 st rear discs/hubs as well as the hub to axle mounts are the same, just need to modify the handbrake as far as i know, will put details up when i've done some research on it

Hi mate, done a bit of digging and the mk6 st brakes won't fit the mk 7. Apparently, the stud pattern on the rear stub axle is different to the one on the mk7 axle so it'd be a case of swap the whole axle assembly

Seems like alot of work, might just be easier to use pumaspeed or hi-specs rear conversions even if they cost a bit more!

I'm using AP coilovers ( Awesome GTi ).....300mm discs from Focus St Mk2 and Mondeo diesel calipers do fit, i've got some ready to go on ours. You do have to drill the two stub axle bolt holes for the carrier to get the increased sized carrier bolts to fit. I'll post a pic tomorrow.
