Handling ideas

Post by stephen0278 »

Hi all

I brought my Zetec S (street pack) nearly 2 years ago now, I love the car especially the looks but I have to say its not fun to drive....its fine but it feels to disconnected with the road, I don't feel it holding in the corners (even with the street pack with the 17" alloys) any ideas how I can improve this? I was thinking engine strutt/brace?

Thanks in advance

Totaly agree with you on the handling side of the zetec s. A set of lowering springs, poly bushes and a strut brace will improve things. If you wanna go a bit further add some adjustable dampers (not sure if anyone makes em yet), or if you want to go all out go for coilovers.

I love the handling of the ZS mine is like glue to the road and the traction control rarely kicks in unless it's wet. But I have changed from a golf which is just a heavy lump of metal so may be why...

The only thing I don't like is it can be very bouncy down certain roads and gives the impression your about
To loose it

I cannot wait to get the Eibachs on. It needs dropping big time.

Eibach will improve the ride plenty, next go for rear strut brace... but whatever you'll do, don't expect wonders - this power steering is just a power killer

Yeah just had a look. I guess there was a lot of shaving of the plastic in the way. Someone should create one for a perfect fit around it

Easy, coilovers with nice bit of negative camber on front and strut brace. This is what i use to have and it handles fantastic.
