Axel stand points
I want to take my wheels off today to clean them up but where am I meant to put the axel stands I know the jacking points, on my mk6 I had a rough idea where to put them but looking around yesterday in advance I have no clue for the mk7

Found the jack points but where can you place the stands on the axel? at what point?

Any point really lower it onto the stand asking as it takes the weight it will be fine and make sure it can't slip of

Its a good question. If your jack allows, jack it up quite high so you can slide the stands under the chassis box sections (FRONT - one at each side running backwards on the floor coming from the bulkhead). (REAR - I'd jack it up again quite high and try to get the stand on the rear axle beam as close to the rear brake hub as possible) Just let the jack down slowly and use your common sense.

Perfect answer, I have found with the jacks you get with cars as standard don't allow it to go high enough for the stand the get under the axel
