Power fold mirrors fuse issue

Post by Darkseth »

Hey guys,

I have a 2009 MK7 titanium with the 1.6 engine and I love the car (apart from a few poor design issues) but recently I have been having a fuse issue with the folding mirrors fuse.

A month ago I noticed my folding mirrors, mirror adjustment & drivers window stopped working. Had a glance in the manual and it was obviously the fuse so I replaced that and a few days later the fuse went again, both times with the mirrors in the open position. This suggested that the mirrors are the issue so I unlinked them to car lock so I could adjust mirrors and use window and it has been fine since.

Anyone else had an issue with the motors in the folding mirrors breaking the fuse and if so, is there a fix? Hoping for something less than a full replacement, say a loose switch or something.

Cheers,

DS

I would check all the wiring that runs through the mirror and door shut. In these sections, the wires flex due to the movement of the door/mirror and sometimes they break and short out.

Deffinately worth checking there before replacing the mirror/s
