EGR Blank Fitted - Results

Post by goldenears »

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my results after fitting an EGR blank to my 2011 1.6 TDCI.

I followed the guide that tonyk wrote on here, was really helpful, not sure if I could have fitted the blank without it!

Guide: http://fiestamk7.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4147

It was definitely a Haynes Manual 4 spanner job in my opinion, working right at the back of the engine is murder on you back! I didn't have the luxury of the 8mm ratchet spanner so it took some time to undo the bottom bolt.

Took me around 4 hours to fit, most of the time was wasted finding tools and bolts that I kept dropping. Managed to drop two bolts and the 8mm spanner twice onto the splash guard so wasted time having to jack the car up, remove the splash guard to get them back. Also managed to break the EGR vacuum valve position sensor clip beyond repair so picking one of those up from Ford. It's tie wrapped for now :D

Once fitted, I took the car for a drive and could instantly feel a massive increase in turbo response. No more lag and lots more power/torque, really has transformed the car.

Finished off the job by removing all of the air inlet pipe work (inter-cooler, air-box and turbo pipes) as well as the throttle body solenoid etc and cleaned up all of the oil residue that is caused by the EGR gas flowing.

As of yet no error messages so fingers crossed!
