Difference between fiesta mk7 and mk8

Pics are coming out on the net of what will be the mk8, im not struck on it, the ST version looks good (think the front grill will be on a lot of peoples mk7 ZS')

Just google fiesta 2013 for pics

My bad...ford are calling it a 'facelift' not mk8

The mk8 doesn't look as "mean" or "edgy" as the mk7 (in terms of us models). The mk8 ford fiesta will be the first fiesta in the us with 1.6l ecoboost as an available option on the 2013 ford fiesta sport. Other than that, smoother shaped front lip, and less-pointy headlights(look somewhat different than dragon-eye of the mk7) they really seem all the same. I believe in uk, mk8 is just known as, "the new fiesta". In Europe, the mk8 has an optional 1litre i4 ecoboost with a proclaimed 47+ mpg combined economy and 123 bhp. That's as much as I know, I hope this info is useful for everyone:)

I asked an ebay trader why they call it (what we call Mk7) the Mk8...

His response...

Hi Because they are Mark 8 fiestas we deal with Fords and they call it the MK8 so thats good for me.

On www.European-parts.net they call the new model MK 7.5.....

There are very slight differences, but it is noting to much to look at. One will be newer but if you are trying to buy a car don't trust ebay at all. I like the mk6 the best.

Perhaps the Mk7 facelift version should be called the Mk7.5, but that would just add to the confusion.

When I purchased my brand new fiesta a couple of weeks ago the Ford sales rep wasn't even 100% sure.

I was looking on eBay for some bits and it seems will now have the MK9 !
