Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone on here can offer me some advice!
My wife has a Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4 petrol that we have owned from new (2009 registered). The car has covered about 44k. This week the lighting on the rev counter failed - with the dial being quite heavily cowled it means you can't really see the rev counter, although the rev counter needle is still lit.
Has anyone else experienced this? I rang our local Ford dealer and they've said to fix this a whole new instrument cluster is required - costing £208 + VAT for the parts alone. Then it would require additional labour because the cars memory/data is stored in the cluster so it would need to be transferred over - nightmare!
Am I being spun a story here or has anyone else had the same experience? Or could it possibly be a loose connection of some kind? I was presuming that the cluster was lit by LEDs or a bulb behind the binnacle. But it seems a bit strange that the rev counter lighting has failed completely whilst the needle, speedo, screen, and other sections are fine.
Does anyone have any guidance or ideas?
Much appreciated
Andy
